Mac N' Cheese!

Best Served With Garlic Bread!

Ingredients:

  • 50g Breadcrumbs
  • 2&1/2 tbsp (37.5g) Butter
  • 350g Macaroni
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 3 tbsp Plain flour
  • 500ml Whole milk
  • 250g Desired Cheese
  • 50g Desired Different cheese
  • 3 Bacon rashers
  • 5 Chestnut mushrooms
  • Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 200C/ fan 180C/ gas 6! And preheat your grill to a medium-high heat!
  • Bring a pan of water to the boil and add the pasta! Boil for 2 minutes less than instructed on the packet! Then set aside!
  • Grill the bacon, giving it 2-3 minutes on each side! You can grill it to whatever crispiness you desire but I recommend nice and crispy!
  • Once grilled, slice into small pieces! Set aside!
  • Thinly slice the mushrooms and then cook them in a pan over a medium-high heat until lightly browned, and then set them aside!
  • Crush and finely chop the garlic! (or use a garlic press!)
  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan! Once melted, add the garlic and mustard powder and cook for 1 min! Stir in the plain flour, and then cook for another minute!
  • Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce is lump-free! Simmer the sauce for 5 minutes, making sure that you whisk it the whole time!
  • Once thickened, take off the heat and stir in all of the primary cheese and half of the secondary cheese! Stir in the pasta, most of the bacon, the mushrooms and some salt and pepper into the sauce, making sure to thoroughly mix it in!
  • Tip the contents of the pan into a large ovenproof dish!
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese and bacon over the top, and then sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top of this!
  • Bake for 20 minutes until golden and crispy! I hope you enjoy!
