My oven broke when making this one time!

Prep Time: About 20 mins

Cooking Time: About 40 mins

Servings: 6

Allergens: Dairy, gluten, nuts

Other: Veggie!!

Ingredients:

  • 85g Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 200ml Milk
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 140g Self-Raising flour
  • 100g Golden caster sugar
  • 2 Bramley apples
  • 140g Dark brown sugar
  • 50g Pecans
  • 1 Egg
  • Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas mark 4!
  • Grease a big ovenproof dish (one that can hold about 2 litres!) lightly with butter or baking spray!
  • Put the flour (sift it in!), sugar, baking powder and a little bit of salt into a large plastic/metal bowl!
  • Melt the butter and mix it together with the milk, egg and vanilla extract in a separate bowl!
  • Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until you get a smooth batter!
  • Peel, core and slice the apples and then arrange the slices nicely on the bottom of the dish!
  • Spoon the batter on top of the apple slices and smooth it out evenly until they are completely covered by it!
  • To make the topping, put the dark brown sugar into a bowl and pour 250ml boiling water over it! Stir it until it goes smooth!
  • Pour the liquid on top of the pudding mixture, and then scatter the pecans over the top!
  • Put the dish into the oven and bake for about 40 minutes, until the pudding is golden and has risen!
  • I recommend using a big spoon to serve the pudding, and serving it alongside either pouring cream, vanilla ice cream or warm custard! Enjoy!
